Everyone’s favorite blue hedgehog is about to get his own Lego set. You can thank Viv Grannell, a 24-year-old Sonic fan, and the Lego Ideas program for uniting Lego and Sega. Over the years, the initiative, which allows fans to submit designs they would like to see the company produce, has produced some truly charming sets, including some fun with the NASA theme. The Green Hill Zone Grannell project, based on the excellent Sonia Mania level surrender, won over 10,000 community votes that a project needs before Lego considers making it official.
With Sega’s approval, Lego is now starting official design development (so expect the final product to look different from the concept shown above). Lego did not say when the set would go on sale, but mentioned that it would be available globally as soon as it was ready.
