Comedian Derick Kobina Bonney revealed that a policeman he knows lost erectile function after taking the covid-19 vaccine on Saturday.

The Food and Drugs Authority in a statement on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, said it had learned of reports of blood clots associated with AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines in some countries, but said it had not yet reported such a development in the country.

Fourteen European countries, including 12 EU members, have now suspended the use of AstraZeneca injections, while another five have specific blacklisted lots and a handful of governments outside Europe have also pulled the emergency brake.

They said they were interrupting the launch after reports of blood clots in some recipients. Countries stressed that this was a precautionary measure.

In its statement, however, the FDA said that its review of the vaccines indicated that it is safe to use and that, since it began administering the drug about two weeks ago, no adverse effects have been recorded in the country.

The FDA added that it is working with health experts around the world to continue to support the vaccine program and protect public health. The FDA has assured the public that it will have confidence in the vaccine and will continue to take it.

But reacting to the FDA statement captured in a GhanaWeb publication, DKB said that a policeman he knows had lost his erectile potency for almost a week after he got the injection.

“A policeman I know has lost his erection since he took it on Saturday,” he said in a tweet.

Before the launch of the COVID-19 vaccines in Ghana, there were many theories that alluded that the injection had the effect of rendering men impotent.

However, experts rejected the claim, indicating that there was no established link between vaccines and erectile dysfunction.
