Japanese developer French Bread recently unveiled a new entry in the fighting game series that put him on the map: Blood melty. I know, I know, but stay with me. This is really cool and a great deal for people who live and breathe fighting games.

First, the essential: Molten Blood: Lumina Type is having a worldwide release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch still this year. Will present netcode rollback-one extremely important technology to make the online fighting game competition look agile and responsive – and a new mechanic known as “Rapid Beats”, which will allow beginners and veterans to perform great combos with a single button. ONE group of four returning characters was announced with at least six more fighters planned for the final launch.

We haven't heard much about how Melty Blood: Type Lumina is going to play, but it sure is beautiful.

Lumina type, like previous games, is based on Tsukihime, a franchise of visual romance popular in Japanese independent circles. Blood melty gained prominence in 2002, receiving several sequences and updates until 2011 Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code. It has long been considered a hidden gem in the fighting game community, gaining respect for its fast-paced gameplay, fantastic musicand the general style, without conquering the type of audience that could be seen in a more traditionally popular series, such as Street Fighter or Mortal combat.

Said that, Blood melty maintained one of the most consistent scenes within the large fighting game community. Some players often joke that they are so dedicated to the game and yet treated as an afterthought by the tournament organizers who need to be content with whatever space they are allowed, even if it means playing outside. A classic series of tournaments known as the Battle for the Gazebo, for example, was named in honor of a landmark in the public park that participants have appropriated as a competitive venue. Although the community widely believes that the joke has turned from an endearing quality to a borderline insult in the hands of people notBlood melty players, it’s still a testament to the disjointed and DIY nature of the scene.

Blood melty has resurfaced a little in recent years thanks to the new franchise of fighting games from French Bread Night birth. Before the pandemic made it impossible for competitors to meet in person, the Climax of Night tournament series was the right destination for both Blood melty and Night birth competitors and Under the night until found its way in the 2019 Evolution Championship Series. French bread success with both Night birth and licensed projects like Dengeki Bunko: fighting the climax probably gave you the space and the funds you need to officially revive the Blood melty franchise.

I don’t think anyone, even stubborn Blood melty fans, hoped that a new game was on the horizon, let alone one that will be released globally. There is no way to tell if Lumina type will live up to the high expectations of its predecessors, but its mere existence shows how quickly the presence of the fighting game genre has grown in just a few years. I’m super excited for the veterans to finally get a new game to try and for a new generation of players to be introduced to the Blood melty eccentricities of the series. More fighting games is always a good thing!
