Fog has never been such a problem, because how often is it foggy? Most of us don’t live in a Dickens novel. But the masks have made fog an irritatingly common concern for those who wear glasses.
A few weeks ago, I did a search for masks for eyeglass users to help my four-eyed friends on the Internet. When searching for masks that wouldn’t cloud my glasses, the Withmoons face mask was the first thing to appear in an Amazon search for “glasses for mask wearers”. It also has more than 12,000 reviews, which is a lot for a product that was not needed a year ago.
Reviewers were thrilled with how well they can breathe with the Withmoons mask without fogging up their glasses. So, I decided to order one and put it to the test.
I’m not a mask specialist, but I do my best to follow the CDC’s recommendations for wearing one. With these guidelines in mind, I am always looking for masks that fit the parameters, but also don’t fog my lenses. For me, this usually means a mask with a customizable nasal bridge.
Testing the mask to see if my glasses fogged up was easy: I just needed to put on the mask and breathe. When I first did it, my glasses fogged up immediately. I was not impressed. Then I touched the metal wire that goes over the nose and it worked.
It’s almost comical how the nose wire needs to be tightened to work, but after I did that, the mask was perfect. My glasses never fogged up after that. I used it at the supermarket, while walking my dog in a 19 degree climate and during a whip extension consultation. My glasses never fogged up.
The Withmoons mask looks very dowdy to me, which is why I was not initially impressed. But masks are not fashionable for me, so I didn’t care. It did exactly as promised and now I have masks that won’t make me worried about fogged glass.
