Over the past few years, the lower level of the Carolina Coliseum has been transformed from the former home of Gamecocks basketball games to the new home of Gamecocks basketball headquarters.

While the offices of the female basketball coaches are on the second level of the adjacent volleyball facilities, the Carolina Coliseum houses the offices of the male basketball coaches. The facility also houses a guest / visitor lounge, a 4,000-square-foot weight room with equipment adapted for basketball players, two locker rooms for teams, a nutrition and kitchen post, team lounge, cinema room and two and a half courts of practice.

Frank Martin has just finished his eighth season as head coach of the Gamecocks men’s basketball program. He has a 147-118 record in Carolina, good for third place in the program’s history, behind Frank McGuire and Frank Johnson. The program went to an NCAA Tournament (2017 – Final Four) and an NIT presentation. The show had six consecutive seasons without defeats, after posting every five years before he arrived in Columbia for the 2012-13 season. The program has won 10 or more SEC games in four of the past five seasons.

Dawn Staley has just ended its 12th season in South Carolina, with Gamecocks occupying the number 1 position in all major searches. She guided Carolina to eight NCAA tournaments, four Sweet 16s, an Elite Eight, two Final Fours and a national championship (2017). The program won five SEC tournament titles and five SEC regular season titles. The head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team won the Naissmith, WBCA, Associate Press and USBWA Coach of the Year awards in 2020, after Carolina’s 32-1 record. She has a record of 305-98 in South Carolina.
