A glimpse of Trump’s new office

A photo of former President Donald Trump in his new office in Mar-a-Lago was published on Monday, revealing presidential recollections and clues about how he is spending his post-presidency.

Trump is sitting at a table that resembles the Resolute Oval Office Table in the photo, which former aide Stephen Miller tweeted after what he called an “incredible meeting”.

A pair of reading glasses and an open copy of the Wall Street Journal are in front of Trump at the table. Trump rarely wears glasses in public.

Partially obscured behind a phone appears to be his favorite drink, a bottle of Diet Coke – although he doesn’t appear to have a button he used to summon his favorite low-calorie drink at the White House.

On a wall behind Trump is a photo of Mount Rushmore with its four presidents. Last year, he thought about adding a fifth face: his own. The photo appears to show the Marine One presidential helicopter flying over the sculpted landmark – potentially last year, when Trump was the headliner of a fireworks show on the fourth of July.

Also on the ex-president’s desk is a piece of metal used to build his US-Mexico border wall. The souvenir was turned into a trophy and given to Trump during an April 2019 visit to Calexico, California.

On a table over Trump’s shoulder is a small statue of Trump himself, while another table shows family photos.

Miller was an advocate of immigration policy and helped to promote reforms to reduce illegal and legal immigration. He met Trump in the midst of a U.S.-Mexico immigration crisis that many, including Trump, attribute to hastily implemented reforms and Biden’s statements on immigration.
