A company will pay you $ 2,400 to stay away from the screens for 24 hours

Put the phone down for an hour. Or, better yet, wait 24 hours – you can earn $ 2,400 from it.

Reviews.org, a company that tests domestic products and services, is taking a 24-hour digital detox challenge. They will pay their chosen opponents more than two thousand to survive an entire day without screens.
“If you want to abandon your devices for a day, but still need to be paid, this is the perfect opportunity for you,” wrote the company on its website, where aspiring digital detoxifiers can go to sign up.

To help determine who should apply, the company asks some thoughtful questions.

“Have you always wanted to win reality competitions like the American Ninja Warrior, but have you been too busy trying to beat Mario Kart and Mortal Kombat?” Reviews.org asks potential candidates.

“Do you know a little too much about your old social media acquaintances?”

According to the company, the ideal candidate is someone who “definitely likes technology” and is ready for a challenge. And while it may seem easy to do an Instagram detox for a day, the challenge is a little more complex.

US teenagers use screens more than seven hours a day on average - and that doesn’t include schoolwork

It’s not as easy as it looks

Those selected for the challenge will not only have to turn off their phones during the day, but also television, games, computers, smart watches and smart home devices (think smart speakers).

But, explains the company, the microwave is still good.

Challengers will receive safes to store their electronics for 24 hours, along with a $ 200 gift certificate from Amazon to assemble a “survival kit” without technology, the company wrote.

Some suggestions from Reviews.org’s survival kit include a typewriter to replace computers, writing paper to replace texts and inks and brushes to replace the fine art of the selfie.

Challengers will have to review the survival kit and give feedback on the experience after completing the challenge – but they will do so while holding the coveted title “Digital Detox Challenger 2021”.

Screen time is an increasing health risk

The company’s challenge comes at a time when “screen time” takes on new meaning.

The pandemic has forced many people to work remotely and students to study online, making screens more necessary than ever.
According to a 2019 report by the nonprofit Common Sense Media, American teenagers spent an average of more than seven hours a day on screens just for entertainment.

“We have a feeling that someone needs a break,” wrote Reviews.org.

To apply, the company asks for some personal information and a 100-word question about why you are the right person for the challenge. Entries will be open until March 26 and winners will be announced on the company’s YouTube page on March 29.
