A major fire broke out in an apartment complex in San Antonio on Thursday afternoon, officials said.
The fire started at about 1 pm at the Bexar County complex, KSTAT reported.
Residents recalled that they received an alert to turn off the water heater, and the fire started on the second floor moments later, firefighters said.
About 50 residents were evacuated from the building.
Firefighters had to introduce water to extinguish the flames because a nearby fire hydrant was frozen, according to WOAI-TV.
Videos and photos on social networks shows black smoke rising to the sky while firefighters work on the scene.
No injuries were reported. Authorities are still investigating what caused the fire.
