In four seasons, Milano has grown tremendously. The linebacker helped the team reach 10-0 during last year’s regular season, when he was on the pitch. Even though he lost games in 2020 due to injury, Milano still made his presence felt by registering 3.5 sacks, nine hitting center backs, four tackles for defeat, four defending passes, an interception and 44 tackles.
“Obviously, being anywhere for four years, you will grow dramatically,” said Milano. “I think, in general, as a football player, understanding the game more, the intricacies of defense. Now kind of changing my mindset for how we are being attacked and that kind of thing. After having the defense over you can think about other things and this is how you move to the next level.
“But, like I said before, I don’t think I’m anywhere near where I want to be or where I’ve been before. I’m going to continue training. I’m going to go harder than ever now and kind of win this contract.”
Milano has been playing alongside linebacker Tremaine Edmunds for the past three seasons and understands that the chemistry between them is a key part of the defense’s success. Looking ahead, Milano thinks he and Edmunds are just scratching the surface of what they can accomplish.
“I feel like Tremaine [Edmunds] and I haven’t even gotten to our best ball yet, “explained Milano.” This is yet to come, but it has been great. Tremaine is an exceptional player and he and I eat very well. So, having this relationship continued for so many years that we were together definitely contributed a little to that. I am excited to be working with him again and we look forward to great things this year. “
