Woman shows how to find out what Google knows about you

A woman showed you how to find all the information Google has stored about you.

TikTok user @yorgoandlea posted a brief clip showing how you can find out what data Google knows about you.

In the clip, she goes to Google and searches for ‘google ad settings’ and logs in, from here she scrolls down a list where you can quickly see who is old, sex and even the languages she speaks stored.

It also seems to show things she might be interested in, like ‘architecture’ and ‘audio equipment’.

The clip has accumulated hundreds of thousands of views and was inundated with comments from people who were surprised at how much Google knows about them.

One person wrote, “Oh God. I tried – the amount of information!”

Someone posted, “It’s scarily accurate.”

A third said, “That’s why I disable all of this.”

However, others checked theirs and found that the information was wrong.

One person said, “Why does mine say I’m over 44 and literally 19 years old.”

Another added, “Apparently, I’m 65 and I’m interested in Utah and reality TV.”

As you probably know, the search engine stores information about its users, such as the videos you watch, location, cookie data and the ads you click on.

According to Google, it does this to ‘make [its] services work best for you. ‘

The page explains that “Google makes your ads more useful on Google services (like Search or YouTube) and on sites and apps that partner with Google to show ads.”

“He adds: The ads are based on personal information that you’ve added to your Google Account, data from advertisers who have partnered with Google, and Google’s estimate of your interests.

“Choose any factor to learn more or update your preferences.”

Google promises to never sell your data, and the company says it uses it to ‘make ads relevant’ while you’re online – but it does so without delivering your information to advertisers.

And if you really don’t like it, you can always choose to turn off ad customization on Google – you can find that option on the same ad setup page where you’ll find your data.
