Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak joined forces for the new band Silk Sonic and released their video for their first single. “Leave the Door Open” will appear on the next Silk Sonic album, which they announced last week.
In the retro-vibrated video directed by Mars and Florent Dechard, the group performs the smooth and slow jam in a studio. The two exchange verses and harmonize with their support band in the chorus led by Mars: “I’m going to leave the door open / I’m going to leave the door open, girl”, they sing. “I’m going to leave the door open, waiting / For you to feel what I feel / And you want me like I want you tonight, baby / Tell me what you’re going through.”
Mars and .Paak did not share much details about Silk Sonic’s upcoming album, although they did reveal that it features “special guest host Bootsy Collins”. The pair previously joined in 2017 for a tour during the European stage of Mars. 24K Magic world Tour.
Last year, Mars collaborated with Charlie Wilson on “Forever Valentine”, which Mars co-wrote and co-produced, in addition to providing backup vocals. The singer also struck a deal with Disney to develop an upcoming musical film, in which he will star and produce. Mars released his third studio album, 24K Magic, in 2016.
.Paak released several singles in 2020, including “Jewelz,” “Lockdown” and his remix with a verse with Noname, and Trolls World Tour track “Don’t Slack” with Justin Timberlake. Her most recent album, Ventura, arrived in 2019.
