Abigail Breslin shared a touching tribute to her father Michael on Friday after he died of COVID-19.
In a heartbreaking Instagram post, the 24-year-old actress announced the devastating news, alongside photos of her father, who died at age 78, throughout his life.
‘Oh, wow. It is difficult to write this. Stronger than I thought. I’m in a state of shock and devastation, ‘began the Oscar nominee in her long tribute.

She continued: ‘At 18:32 EST, my sweet, perfect, incredible, heroic and wonderful dad passed away after my family and I said goodbye.’
“It was COVID-19 that shortened my sweet dad’s life too much,” she added. ‘I appreciate more than you think, the love and support that my family and I have received.’
While Breslin mourned her father, she told her 527,000 followers that she wanted to remember him ‘for who he was’.

“My father was a hilarious, turbulent, tenacious, rebellious, intelligent, sweet and incredible human being. He loved life. He loved his family. He loved the simple things, ‘wrote the former Scream Queens student of the telecommunications specialist, consultant and computer programmer.
She continued talking about his love for ‘a cup of coffee (black, heated for 66 seconds), barbecue and Bryeyer’s ice cream.
“He loved dogs and cats and all animals and especially loved to hear funny stories about my pets in particular,” commented Breslin, noting that she inherited him from being an ‘animal lover’.

‘He loved taking pictures and flying planes and good dinners and music from the 50s and 60s and good Kenyan mountain sofas and coffee and funny YouTube videos and e-mail topics and weird poems and politics and he loved me and he loved my brothers and he loved my mother, ‘she concluded.
Her brothers Ryan and Spencer, who are also actors, wrote their own compliments on social media.
‘How do you say goodbye to your father?’ Asked Spencer. ‘I love this man who helped me bring me into this world and raised me and loved my mom and my two amazing brothers. Death is the only thing we all have in common, but we never expected. I love you dad. Forever and ever.’
Meanwhile, Ryan wrote about his father’s education, time in the Air Force and overcoming ‘many difficulties and obstacles in his life’.

Ryan continued: ‘He always set an unparalleled example of will, determination’ and was a champion of the people he loved. ‘
Earlier this month, Abigail begged fans to take the COVID-19 pandemic seriously and just ‘wear their d * mn masks’.
While recounting her father’s battle with the relentless Coronavirus, she asked for ‘prayers and positivity’ while he fought for his life on a respirator.
Taking to Instagram, the Little Miss Sunshine star exposed her complaints to those who continue to disregard the order of wearing the mask, while she tried to clarify the gravity of the situation, noting that her father ‘was not conscious’.

The star first shared the news of her father’s battle on February 10, with a post that read:
‘Hi guys. Unfortunately, this post is not what I thought I would have to do. I am asking for prayers and positivity sent in this way to my father, Michael, who tested positive for COVID-19 and this morning had to be put on a respirator.

Updates: responding to a concerned fan who was checking on her father two weeks ago, she said: ‘There is not much to update him, but we are more hopeful every day’
