The animation was made by Mainframe, which created the animated film, and the credits say the feature was produced in 2019. But PlayStation confirmed to IGN that Life of Pie is not related to the next PS5 game or canon.“Ratchet & Clank: Life of Pie is a licensed and autonomous animated special created and distributed by Mainframe Studios,” said a PlayStation spokesman. “The show is not related to the upcoming Ratchet & Clank game for PlayStation 5 and is not the official canon of the franchise’s video game narrative.”
Mainframe Studios is the same production company that created Ratchet & Clank: The Movie, which was itself a link to the Ratchet & Clank game for PlayStation 4 (which is fantastic, according to IGN’s analysis).
The film itself does not reach the peak of the video game, but if you liked it, there is now another mini-feature available on Crave for your pleasure.
But if you’re excited about the release of Ratchet & Clank on PS5, unfortunately Life of Pie won’t have any secret Easter eggs for you. However, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will arrive on June 11, 2021. And no, we still don’t know the name of the new and mysterious Lombax.
