Republicans sens. Mitt Romney and Lisa Murkowski said on Friday that they had already sent questions to the impeachment court teams at the Senate trial of former President Donald Trump.
None of the legislators elaborated on what their questions were or to whom they would be addressed. Romney (R-Utah) told reporters that he presented a list of five questions and that “we will give you a copy of them.” Romney also added that he did not coordinate matters with “no one else”. Murkowski (R-Alaska) said he has “several” questions he is going to ask, but gave no further details.
The Senate’s impeachment trial procedure allows senators to ask questions of the House’s impeachment managers and the president’s defense team after both sides present the case. Trump’s impeachment advocacy team is due to end its case on Friday, Trump’s senior adviser Jason Miller said, and the trial could end as early as this weekend.
