House Democrats turned former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial into a “Hollywood production,” minority president Steve Scalise, R-La, told America Reports on Wednesday.
Scalise dismissed the initial arguments of the House’s impeachment managers as being “very amended” and “very selective in showing different things”.
“At the end of the day, the question is, when people entered the Capitol on January 6, what do we all condemn, who is responsible?” he asked co-hosts John Roberts and Sandra Smith
“These are the people who really broke the law, invaded the Capitol, beat the police, murdered a policeman,” he said. “More than 120 of them have been arrested and should be.”

Democrats are defending their case to condemn Trump for a single article of “inciting insurrection” for comments he made before the deadly invasion of the US Capitol last month.
“The question is,” said Scalise, “what is the pattern? How many times have we seen Democratic officials saying things that sparked things? None of them are being accused of things they have said, and many were inciting real violence against others who have been carried out.”
With Trump no longer in charge and the coronavirus pandemic still affecting states across the United States, the impeachment effort appears to be a major misuse of Congressional time, Scalise said.
“They are still in love with impeachment. Why isn’t the Senate spending their time trying to help companies get back on their feet, trying to help schools reopen safely?” he argued.

“This is clearly something to continue the impeachment drum beat that happened before Donald Trump took the oath of office.”
