One of the most popular prop bets seems unlikely to be available on Super Bowl Sunday.
After Florida reporter Zach Maskavich recorded the rehearsal of the national anthem outside Raymond James Stadium, cool sportsbooks were forced to adjust.
While betting on the length of the anthem is not legal on US sportsbooks, PointsBet in Australia was offering the bet. However, it was removed from the board with the intention of placing a new number. But in the end PointsBet decided not to do that.
PointsBet in the United States, which would offer an in-game prop compared to the length of the anthem, also shelved that idea.
Illegal sportsbooks always act on the basis of novelty, but have also begun to take the option off the board. Leaks are not uncommon for these types of bets, which is one reason why they are not offered in legal markets as a direct option. To be legal in the United States and approved by gambling commissions, it must be offered against another prop.
The prop was listed anywhere between 1:57 and 1:59 for the time period. When the recording of the rehearsal inside the stadium revealed the time of 2:16, she threw it all away and made the listed line debatable.
In recent years, the line has changed based on rumors, but the actual recording is more than just rumors.
The hymn will be performed by Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church.
