A new video that is taking the internet like a hurricane appears to show a woman doing aerobics in Myanmar, despite a strong military presence growing behind her – the same day that the country’s armed forces delivered a coup.
Khing Hnin Wai posted a video on Facebook on Monday carrying out an exercise routine of about three minutes in front of what appears to be an army truck convoy and a roadblock.
The woman – who identifies herself as a physical education teacher and has many followers on Facebook, where she regularly posts exercise videos – doesn’t miss a beat as military vehicles are seen whizzing past her in the background.
The video took off on social media with a Twitter user proclaiming is “the most emblematic video of the 2020s”.
“Talk about a revolutionary workout”, another joked.
Some questioned whether the video was legitimate, but the woman had already posted several other clips of her main workouts at the same location – which she noted in a follow-up post after the original went viral.
Myanmar’s military announced on Monday that they had taken control of the democratically elected government and declared a state of emergency for a year.
Nobel Prize winner Aung San Suu Ky and other leaders of her National League for Democracy party were arrested in morning attacks as part of the coup.
