There was a time when Sega made a significant effort to preserve its legacy titles, which would allow new fans to try the games, even if they were before them. Move on to the modern day and the company just seems interested in relaunching Sonic 1 & 2 on every platform imaginable (but not on the widescreen port).
We have passed through several generations of consoles without proper preservation for this franchise and some titles, such as Sonic Pocket Adventure by Neo Geo Pocket Color, have never received a re-release of any kind. That’s what we want to see today – Sonic titles that are at least 15 years old and are locked on their original hardware.
We’re not just highlighting any old games, they need to be legitimately fantastic, a fundamental part of the franchise’s history, or have the potential to be improved with modern hardware. (Sorry Sonic’s Schoolhouse, maybe next time)
Did you play any of the games featured in this video and want to see another one relaunched?
