Week 2 recap of ‘The Bachelor’: Matt confronts villain Victoria

Here’s a guide for watching “The Bachelor” or basically any form of reality show: if someone says it’s “real” and “authentic”, it definitely isn’t.

In week 2, we met more women from the cast of 24 who are worth cheering, like Sarah, Bri and Lauren. We also find someone who is not.

Victoria practically begged viewers to make her the villain. There was no struggle or drama that led to this. She simply woke up and decided to make the contestants and viewers of “The Bachelor” dislike her, often through stupid catchphrases.

“I’m not jealous, I just want it,” she said of her desire to meet Matt. She called the court fools “gestures” and said that she and her enemy are like “oil and vinegar”. And she didn’t mean salad dressing.

This is what other decreased during week 2.

The first face-to-face

Bri was the lucky girl. During the first cocktail, the two connected because they were biracial and raised by single mothers. He gave her the first flower during the ceremony, which many of the ladies brought while they regretted not being chosen.

Matt and Bri had a great time riding an ATV through the Pennsylvania forest. Of course, they fell in the mud.

Following the theme of the season of extreme lust, Matt took off his dirty shirt and started chopping wood (not an understatement), before joining Bri in a hot tub.

During dinner, Bri told Matt about how his mother had her when she was 13. Now that Bri has grown up, her mother is pregnant and starting a new family, with which she struggles.

Matt and Bri spent their lives wishing their parents would show up. The parallels were strange. Matt gave her a rose for his honesty.

The group date

Borrowing a date from the last season of “The Bachelorette”, 18 (18 !!) girls wore wedding dresses and veils for a photo shoot with their boyfriend. (Hello again, photographer Franco Lacosta.) But before everyone could finish, Chris Harrison waltzed to turn the meeting into a deadly game with a “Hunger Games” theme, marriage and marriage, with the winning team staying with Matt. I am surprised that Jason Derulo did not appear to sing “Savage Love”.

The ladies ran through the forest spraying each other with paint. The red team (plus Mari, the gold team MVP) had to clean up for a party later.

Like Matt, Lauren is also a Christian, which really piqued her interest. He and Jessenia kissed. Victoria told him that there are “many sides” to her, without actually revealing any sides. The rose went to Lauren.

The second face-to-face

This was for Sarah (a 24-year-old journalist – or perhaps an impersonator of Alexis Rose of “Schitt’s Creek”, as many have noted online). The prospective lovers flew over the resort in a tiny biplane, before settling in for casual, vulnerable conversation. They both love their families, great! But Matt knew that she was holding back.

During dinner, she revealed that her father has ALS. Sarah quit her job to be a full-time caretaker. “He wanted me to go out and find love, and I felt that call to be here,” she said of her decision to enter the show. He gave her a rose. “Today’s meeting replaced everything I could have imagined,” said Matt, saying how much he likes Sarah’s compassion and altruism.

During the show, he shared this on Twitter. Is he really a good guy?

Not everyone had a date this week, so time was of the essence for girls who needed to secure Matt a rose.

Abigail, who got the first pink impression, made Matt laugh. Kit and Magi too. After Marylynn stated that she was not invited to a meeting this week, Matt gave her an orchid, her favorite flower.

(I’m sorry about what we’re about to discuss, it’s completely fake and has no lasting repercussions, but the program spent 25 minutes on it, so we have to talk about it.)

Victoria, who was Marylynn’s roommate, but decided to sleep on the couch because Marylynn “cries a lot”, was jealous and decided to denounce Matt, calling her “toxic” for no reason. Convinced that Victoria is the victim, Matt decided to pull Marylynn aside to talk. She defended herself calmly, understanding that the situation was a “she-said-she-said.”

When Marylynn politely confronted Victoria, Victoria gave back a masterclass on gas lighting and manipulation. She didn’t even sit next to Marylynn on the couch during the drama.

The rose ceremony

Matt gave roses to Pieper, Kit, Magi, Rachael, Abigail, Chelsea, Jessenia, Katie and Serena C. In the middle of the ceremony, Sarah started to get dizzy and see stars. Another woman had to help her get off the podium and into another room. Matt went out to help comfort her. She screamed that she couldn’t see and then the episode was stopped.

Prediciton

It looks like someone will be arriving next week. It also looks like Sarah feels better. I hope Chelsea has some time on the air, because I follow her on TikTok and she looks really cool.
