Dems ‘caught up in their own mob mentality’, trying to ‘blame Trump for everything’: Hurt

As Republicans look into the aftermath of the Capitol disturbances following President Trump’s speech on Wednesday, Democrats are increasing the divide, Fox News collaborator Charles Hurt told Fox & Friends.

“I am in such a hurry to blame President Trump for everything. Everything that is happening now has been done for years and decades, of which Capitol politicians have been a part,” Hurt, editor of the Washington Times, told the co- presenter Brian Kilmeade.

He added: “The last thing they want is to take stock of themselves and try to imagine, ‘OK, what did I do to make this worse or create this situation?'”

Trump supporters caused unrest on the steps of the Capitol Building while a joint session of Congress certified the victory of President-elect Biden’s Electoral College, causing lawmakers to be arrested. The riot left five dead, including a pro-Trump protester who was shot and killed by Capitol police, and at least 68 arrests, according to DC police.

Seconds after meeting again on Wednesday night, Democrats on Capitol Hill began “accusing Republicans of treason and sedition,” said Hurt.

“Every ounce of hope we had that maybe this is a unifying moment, we can come out of this situation stronger, it just came out the window,” he said.

Several Democratic lawmakers accessed Twitter demanding that Trump be removed using the 25th Amendment or impeachment.

“They are caught up in their own mafia mentality, they are all trying to outdo each other on Twitter to see who can make the most outrageous accusation or make the most outrageous demand on the other side and nothing will be cured if that is their approach” said Hurt.

While this may be a good time for an examination of conscience for both parties, Hurt concluded: “There is no indication from the Democrats on Capitol Hill that either of them has any intention of doing this and certainly not Joe Biden or Kamala Harris.”
