Elon Musk overtook Jeff Bezos as the richest person in the world, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.
Musk, who founded electric car maker Tesla and rocket maker SpaceX, has a net worth of $ 188.5 billion, which is about $ 1.5 billion more than Amazon’s Bezos, said Bloomberg, attributing the change to an increase in Tesla’s share price.
On Twitter, Musk responded to a tweet about his new position with two tweets saying “How weird” and “Well, back to work …”
Musk is moving up the rankings. In November, he dismissed Bill Gates as the second richest person when his net worth reached $ 128 billion.
Although Bezos did not consistently hold the title, he claimed first place in October 2018 (also happened briefly in 2017), when its net worth reached $ 160 billion. Gates had already occupied the place for 24 years.
Neither Musk nor Bezos responded to a request for comment.
