It didn’t take a whole day for the South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer to replace your offensive coordinator. Carolina Panthers, assistant coach of the offensive line Marcus Satterfield will be appointed the new offensive coordinator of Gamecocks on Friday under the command of the first year coach Shane Beamer.
Joe Person, the beat writer for the Carolina Panthers at The Athletic, was the first to report the news. TheBigSpur.com introduced our readers to Satterfield in the middle of Thursday afternoon as a candidate to keep an eye on the position.
Satterfield spent a season with the Panthers after spending his entire career at the university level. He was an offensive coordinator or head coach on five different scales at the university level, including Temple under the head coach. Matt Rhule, who is now the head coach of the Panthers. The two teamed up again in Baylor before moving to Carolina in the NFL.
Satterfield replaces former offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, who accepted the same position with the Auburn Tigers on Thursday morning. Bobo spent a year with Gamecocks.

Former assistant coach Matt Rhule at Temple, Satterfield joined the Bears team from East Tennessee State, where he served as an offensive coordinator and defender coach.
Prior to his appointment at ETSU, he served as principal coach at Tennessee Tech 2016-17. In 2016, Satterfield led the Golden Eagles in their first winning conference season since 2011, with Tennessee Tech winning 5-3 at the Ohio Valley Conference.
From 2013 to 15, Satterfield was the offensive coordinator at Temple, where he helped guide the Owls to historic landmarks. In his first year at Temple, Satterfield’s attack averaged nearly 400 yards per game, which was the maximum for an Owl team since 1979. Temple won the 2015 Eastern Athletic Conference Eastern Division title and had a season of 10 wins.
Satterfield also served as offensive coordinator in Chattanooga (2009-12) and UT Martin (2006-07). In 2010, Satterfield’s attack on Chattanooga averaged 430 yards and scored 49 touchdowns, which ranked 11 nationally. During their time at UT Martin, Skyhawks led the OVC in the scoring attack in 2007 and 2008, while also leading the league in the total attack in 2007.
Satterfield started his coaching career in Chattanooga in 1999, before becoming a graduate assistant to trainer Phillip Fulmer in Tennessee from 2002-03. He also made stops as a trainer for wide receivers in Richmond (2004) and Western Carolina (2005).
Born in Greenback, Tennessee, Satterfield graduated from East Tennessee State in 1999. He is married to ex-Sarah Houser. The couple has a daughter, Harper.
