DC curfew now in effect until 6am
Authorities in DC and Virginia imposed curfews for residents after the pro-Trump protests on the Capitol turned into riots with protesters breaking into the building and shots being fired on the floor of the Chamber.
WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) – A woman who was shot inside the United States Capitol on Wednesday died, DC Police confirmed to FOX 5. This happened after pro-Trump protesters attacked the building when Congress started counting the votes of the Electoral College.

The shooting was reported shortly after 3 pm, while the situation worsened inside and outside the Capitol.
The victim was later identified as Ashli Babbit, from San Diego.
Her mother-in-law told Lindsay Watts of FOX 5: “I really don’t know why she decided to do this.”
Babbit is a 14-year veteran in the Air Force, reports Watts.

DC police chief Robert Contee also said that several MPD officers were injured, but are still working to help take control of the Capitol.
Contee also said that the protesters implanted “chemical irritants in the police” to gain access to the Capitol.
