SEATTLE – A rare winter storm that poured a foot of snow into Seattle failed to stop a 90-year-old woman from her first coronavirus vaccine appointment.
Fran Goldman walked ten kilometers back and forth to get his photo, reports The Seattle Times.
“I’ve been calling to make an appointment anywhere, every morning, every afternoon and I’m often online at night,” said Goldman.
She finally secured a spot for Sunday morning, but on Friday and Saturday a strong winter storm hit the region, turning the city’s normally rainy streets into a snowy winter scene.
Goldman wore wool pants and a short-sleeved shirt so that the nurse could easily take his arm. On top of that, she put on a zippered woolen coat, then a feather coat and a raincoat.
She then put on snow boots, picked up her canes and ventured out into the snowy streets.
“It wasn’t easy, it was a challenge,” she told the newspaper.
But Goldman arrived at the appointment only 5 minutes late.
Her daughter Ruth Goldman, who lives in Buffalo, New York, was not surprised by her mother’s actions.
“We are outsiders,” she said. “We love being outdoors. I was at Lake Ontario yesterday with a 6 degree thermal sensation. “
