70% of employees believe that vaccines should be required before returning to the office: Glassdoor

It is no secret that people have a variety of opinions when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine. According to a recent survey by online job site Glassdoor, an impressive 70% of employees believe they should be forced to get a vaccine before returning to the office.

Glassdoor found that age and sex play an important role in people’s opinions of the vaccine. According to the survey results, those aged 18 to 34 are less likely (58%) than those aged 35 to 44 years (84%) to agree that employees must receive a COVID-19 vaccine to return to desk. Men (74%) are more likely than women (64%) to agree that employees should be required to get the COVID-19 vaccine to return to the office.

In general, most respondents plan to get vaccinated against COVID-19. More than 3 out of 4 (76%) intend to be inoculated when an injection is available to them. Those aged 18-34 (66%) are less likely than those aged 35-44 (81%) to say they intend to receive a COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to them, and almost 1 in 4 (24% ) does not plan to receive a COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to them.

Glassdoor’s personnel director, Carina Cortez, notes that employers are taking their employees’ health needs seriously.

“Surprisingly, employees want to know if employers are prioritizing their health, safety and well-being, taking into account the latest health guidelines and recommendations,” said Cortez.

Another important finding from the report shows that most employees want an incentive from their employers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine: 68% of respondents said they would receive the vaccine if their employer offered a cash bonus and / or more paid time off .

When it comes to the home work environment, 86% of respondents said they would like to continue working at home on a part-time basis, even after their offices reopen. Some people got used to the “new normal”, with about 23% saying they would consider leaving their job if they were forced to return to the office before all employees were vaccinated. Seventeen percent of respondents said they would consider leaving their jobs if they were forced to return to the office five days a week.

“At this point, many employees have been working from home for about a year and they have become accustomed to the flexibility to work wherever they want, as long as they have the necessary tools to do their job successfully,” said Cortez.

The survey showed a consistent theme: employees would prefer to work from home at least part of the time. “It is clear that a hybrid approach to remote and face-to-face work will be a major trend in 2021, and employers should keep this in mind when evaluating the next phase of their employees’ work. The future of work is well ahead of us, and the data from this survey reveals that a hybrid work environment will be the wave of the future, ”added Cortez.

** Survey methodology: This survey was conducted online in the United States by The Harris Poll on behalf of Glassdoor from February 16 to 18, 2021, among 2,072 adults aged 18 and over, among whom 1,149 are employed and 571 are working at home due to COVID-19.
