The victims are between 17 and 71 years old.
Seven people were shot near a SEPTA train station in Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
One person is in custody, officials said, adding that two weapons were recovered.
The victims are between 17 and 71 years old, police said.
The 71-year-old man was shot in the stomach and several times in both legs and is listed in critical condition, officials said.
The other six victims are in stable condition, the police said.
“It’s very brazen,” said Philadelphia police commissioner Danielle Outlaw of the afternoon shooting. “We were able to put someone in custody as quickly as we did because we had policemen working on another mission. It is not because of our lack of presence here, but I find it very revealing that people willing to get involved in these shootings are increasingly encouraged, whether we are here or not. . “
Outlaw added: “There may be several snipers, but we still don’t know. Several cartridges have been found, 18 cartridges, and we are still trying to determine whether they all came from the same firearm.”
Police said they were working to identify witnesses and track surveillance images.
