7-Eleven is opening a drive thru club

The convenience store chain said Tuesday that it is opening a Laredo Taco store with a drive-through in Dallas. Laredo Taco locations can usually be found in the 7-Eleven stores themselves. This is the first drive-thru for the club chain, as well as the first drive-thru in a corporate-owned 7-Eleven store. Customers can order Slurpees, in addition to the Laredo Taco menu items, which include a variety of tacos, side dishes and fresh water.

7-Eleven is opening a drive-thru
During the pandemic, drive-thrus emerged as an important way for fast-food restaurants to sell to customers. Chains that have relied on them for years, such as Taco Bell, McDonald’s and Burger King, are unveiling new innovative concepts designed to make more customers work faster. Others, like Chipotle and Shake Shack, are quickly adding drive-thru locations or opening them for the first time.

“Customers looking for socially distant ways to have breakfast, lunch and dinner will really appreciate [the drive-thru] now, “said Chris Tanco, chief operating officer at 7-Eleven, in a statement.

The new drive-thru is connected to one of 7-Eleven’s Evolution stores, where the chain launches new drinks and offers unique flavors. Entering customers will find special self-service coffees, freshly baked cakes and a selection of wines and craft beers, as well as mobile checkout for users of the rewards program.

In recent years, 7-Eleven has become more serious with its culinary offerings. She launched private label meal kits and tested keto and paleo snacks. It acquired Laredo Taco locations in its 2018 business with Sunoco.
