6-year-old girl fatally shot by a relative because of the water spill, police say

A 6-year-old Texan girl was fatally shot by a relative after an argument over the water spill, according to the NBC affiliate in Houston.

Police in Pasadena, a city southeast of Houston, said officers responded to reports of a gunfight in an apartment complex at about 11:30 am on Friday, KPRC reported. A member of Laurionne Walker’s family, 6, shot the girl several times, police said.

“I’m speechless at the moment,” Laurionne’s grandmother Earline House told the news station. “My granddaughter was still a baby. She was shot twice in the chest this morning.”

Laurionne was taken to a hospital, where she later died of her injuries, KPRC reported.

Police said the suspect was in custody, according to the agency. Details about the person, including his name and the charges against him, were not released.

This is the second time that Laurionne’s family has been hit by a tragedy this week, KPRC reported. His mother was the aunt of three children who died in an unrelated car accident in Spring, Texas, on Sunday night. The mother of the three children also died in the accident, which involved an alleged drunk driver.
