6 new virus deaths in El Paso; active cases increase for the 5th consecutive day

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) – The El Paso Department of Health reported six new coronavirus-related deaths and 564 new cases on Wednesday morning.

All six victims had underlying health problems and include:

  • 1 man in his 40s
  • 1 man in his 50s
  • 1 woman in her 60s
  • 1 man in his 60s
  • 1 man in his 70s
  • 1 woman in her 80s

The death toll in the El Paso County pandemic has now increased to 1,530.

There were still 568 deaths listed as under investigation on Wednesday. These are suspected deaths by Covid-19 that have not yet been confirmed, although historically the majority of suspected deaths have ended up being confirmed by health officials.

The number of active cases increased from 35,487 to 35,710. This marks the fifth consecutive day that active cases have increased.

As of Wednesday morning, there were 415 patients with Covid-19 in hospitals in El Paso, one less than on Tuesday. There are 148 patients in intensive care and 100 on ventilators.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 104,714 confirmed cases in El Paso, with 66,873 recoveries reported.
