505 takes Suikoden’s spiritual successor, Eiyuden Chronicle • Eurogamer.net

Publisher 505 chose Suikoden’s spiritual successor, Eiyuden Chronicle.

Eiyuden Chronicle, a new Japanese RPG from some of the leading creators of the beloved JRPG Suikoden of the 90s, launched a Kickstarter on July 27, 2020 asking for ¥ 53,808,516 (approx. £ 370,202). The crowdfunding campaign quickly broke that goal, reaching ¥ 481,621,841 (approximately £ 3.4 million) from 46,307 sponsors.

The game will feature a traditional six-character battle system with 2D sprites, 3D backgrounds and a story written by scenario writer Suikoden 1 and 2 Yoshitaka Murayama.

Recent games published by 505 include Bloodstained, the PC version of Death Stranding and Remedy’s Control, the latest of which has suffered a backlash against its next generation update policy and the related Ultimate edition.

“Given the success and history of 505 Games with titles like Bloodstained and Death Stranding and the strong personal relationship we have developed with the people there, we feel like we have the perfect partner,” said Murayama.

Eiyuden Chronicle is set for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC sometime in 2022.
