Calling Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes’ The success of the Kickstarter campaign would be to mitigate things. A spiritual successor to Konami’s acclaimed JRPG series Suikoden, it brings together the main developers of the first and was first revealed in August. With the goal of raising $ 500,000 in crowdfunding, they completely crushed that goal to reach the incredible amount of $ 4.5 million.
The news has been quiet since then, but now we have confirmation that 505 Games will publish this game early in 2022. Confirmed in a new blog and YouTube video post, Rabbit & Bear Studios leader Yoshitaka Murayama advised:
For many years, we have dreamed of developing a game for genre fans that also celebrates everything we love and learn as game designers. Our team is looking forward to working with 505 Games to bring the Eiyuden Chronicle to as many fans as possible around the world.
Eiyuden Chronicle is a throwback to the classic role-playing games that entertained millions and a modern and exciting tale of discovery and adventure with a cast of hundreds of fully realized characters. Given its success and history with titles like Bloodstained and Death Stranding, and with the strong personal relationship we have developed with the people there, we feel that we have the perfect partner in 505 Games.
Unfortunately, it does not clarify whether the Eiyuden Chronicle will be released on Switch. Rabbit & Bear previously outlined their concerns, stating that due to the age of the Switch and lower specs, this version could be dropped for Nintendo’s next-generation hardware closer to launch. However, given that Nintendo feels that the Switch is only half its lifespan, a successor may not even be available in 2022.
Murayama described a familiar situation, which we have seen before with other Kickstarter games, so we can understand the hesitation. At the very least, we know that Eiyuden Chronicle is coming for a Nintendo console.
