50 hospitalized in Brazos County, highest number reported since the start of the pandemic

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Brazos County Sanitary District reported 86 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in the municipality of Brazos. Currently, there are 1,162 active cases.

No new deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours. There were 132 deaths in the municipality of Brazos related to COVID-19.

10,553 patients are classified as recovered, which means they have had no fever for 72 hours, no medication to lower the fever, and it has been 10 days after the onset of symptoms.

15 percent of new confirmed cases are in the 18 to 24 age group.

There have been 2,230 probable cases in Brazos County since June 18, 2020. A probable case of COVID-19 is determined by a positive antigen test. Confirmed COVID-19 cases are determined by a positive PCR test. The health district conducts case investigations in all confirmed and probable cases.

There are currently 281 probable cases active and 1,949 probable cases recovered.

The total number of positive cases confirmed in the county since the start of the tests is 11,847. 125,421 tests were carried out.

The total occupancy of hospital beds in Brazos County is 74%, and the total occupancy of beds in the ICU is 81%.

Currently, there are 50 residents in the municipality of Brazos hospitalized for COVID-19. This is the largest number of people reported to be in the hospital due to the virus since the Brazos County Health District began reporting this information. The last highest number was 41, reported on 28 December.

Most of the Brazos Valley falls under the N state trauma service area (Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson and Washington counties). The Trauma Service Area N currently reports 611 hospital beds with 150 beds available. According to the most recent data from the state, the region has 3 ICU beds available and 59 fans available. The latest state update listed 109 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients currently in the hospital.

Texas A&M University

The Texas A&M COVID-19 Dashboard reported 7 new cases and 115 active cases on December 26.

Currently, the university reported 4,763 positive cases, 7 percent of the tests were positive.

Across the state, Texas has an estimated 285,555 active cases and 1,357,576 recoveries. There were 1,490,479 cases in total reported and 15,326,725 tests in total (viral and antibody).

To date, 26,521 Texans have died from COVID-19.

254 out of 254 counties in the state of Texas are currently reporting cases. Harris County leads the state in total cases, with 231,707 cases reported.
