5 star QB Ty Simpson commits to Alabama live on CBS Sports HQ

Ty Simpson, a five-star quarterback among the best players in his position in the 2022 recruiting class, announced his appointment to Alabama live on Friday afternoon at CBS Sports HQ. Alabama rose in recruiting Simpson before his decision, beating other candidates, such as Clemson and Tennessee. Simpson received nearly 40 offers during his recruitment.

The industry-generated 247Sports Composite ranks Simpson as a five-star recruit that ranks 27th overall in the country in the 2022 recruiting class. It is also ranked No. 3 nationally among 2022 pro-style quarterback prospects, as well No. 2 overall, regardless of the position in the state of Tennessee in its class (five-star defensive tackle) Walter Nolen is at the top of the Tennessee state ranking). Simpson joins Ohio State’s five-star pledge Quinn Ewers – the nation’s No. 1 overview – and LSU’s four-star commitment Walker Howard among the top three professional-style QBs, according to 247Sports Composite.

Simpson’s appointment is fourth for Alabama in the 2022 recruiting class. Adding Simpson to the group pushes coach Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide from No. 22 to No. 15 at 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings.

As a junior in the fall of 2020, the 1.80m and 185 pound Simpson took Westview to a record 7-5 when the Chargers reached the second round of the Division I Class 3A playoffs in Tennessee. He added 311 yards and seven scores on the ground.

Simpson is an extensive quarterback in the game with an excellent feeling for the position. He has a strong pedigree in football. Simpson’s father, Jason Simpson, is the principal football coach for the Division I FCS Tennessee-Martin program. In 13 seasons at UTM, the older Simpson led the Skyhawks to a record 87-73, including a 69-42 mark in conference games.

The following analysis presents the 247Sports scouting report on Simpson by Greg Biggins, national recruiting analyst: “The excellent quarterback of the double threat who is one of the best in the class this year, extending his moves and making something happen out of pocket. No it will surprise you with its arm strength, but it’s functional and it can do all the pitching on the field. Natural feeling in the pocket. Perceives the pressure and does a great job in shuffling situations. a big pitch on the field or just take off and run for more yards.

“Creative in the way he takes the ball. He can shoot from different angles of his arm and is just as dangerous outside the pocket as inside it. He shows posture and stamina. He stands and strikes to take the ball. Highly intelligent quarterback who doesn’t should have trouble choosing a college playbook and renders the game extremely fast.Projects like a high-impact Power 5 beginner and a future medium to high level NFL Draft choice.
