COLUMBIA, SC – South Carolina fans who may have thought “safe travel” when offensive coordinator Mike Bobo left last week to take on the same job in Auburn will not be so happy with the chain reaction from that decision.
Five-star quarterback Gunner Stockton, a potential 2022 gang who has a long relationship with Bobo, announced via Twitter that he is retiring from Gamecocks and opening up recruitment again.
“No, it’s not a surprise,” said Rivals National Recruitment Director Mike Farrell. “After Bobo left, it was the last straw, and he wanted to go in a different direction.”
No one will be surprised if Stockton’s next announcement is that he is going to Auburn to join Bobo and new Tigers coach Bryan Harsin.
“That would be my guess, but I’m not sure, either,” said Farrell.
Very few people know anything for sure.
