49ers sign FB Kyle Juszczyk for five-year extension

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Monday that it had signed Pro Bowl FB Kyle Juszczyk for a five-year extension until the 2025 season.

Last season, Juszczyk (6-1, 235) appeared in all 16 games (15 games) and recorded career records for running attempts (17), running yards (64) and running touchdowns (two) to go along with 19 202 yard receptions and four touchdowns in the air. He won his fifth consecutive trip to the Pro Bowl (2017-21) and his fourth consecutive as a member of the 49ers. His total of six touchdowns in the season was a record in a single season.

In the past four years with San Francisco (2017-20), Juszczyk appeared in 58 games (51 matches) and recorded 35 running attempts for 132 yards and two touchdowns, as well as 102 receptions for 1,080 yards and seven touchdowns. He also started in each of the team’s three postseason competitions in 2019 and added three receptions for 39 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown reception at the Super Bowl LIV.

Originally crafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round (130th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft, Juszczyk played in 122 games (83 matches) and scored 42 runs for 157 yards and three touchdowns, adding 199 receptions to 1,849 yards and 12 touchdowns. In 2017, he also received the Bill Walsh Award, given annually to the 49er who best represented the standard of professional excellence set by Walsh.

Juszczyk, 29, a native of Medina, OH, attended Harvard University (2009-12), where he ended up with 125 receptions for 1,576 yards (12.6 on average) and 22 touchdowns. He received the honors of First Team All-America (2012) and Second Team All-America (2011) by Crimson.
