Everyone has an opinion on what quarterback Deshaun Watson should do. He doesn’t seem to want to be with the Houston Texans after feeling disrespected by the team’s leadership and disagreeing with several organizational decisions.

It’s been a recipe for a compelling offseason discussion, with fans across the league wondering what their team’s attack on Watson would be like.

During Cris Collinsworth PodcastCornerback Richard Sherman, who co-hosts the show, shared his opinion on what Watson should do, and does not join the San Francisco 49ers.

“If I were Deshaun, I would get out of there as soon as possible. I would go to New York,” Sherman told Collinsworth and George Chahrouri. “… The Jets. It would be the most beautiful (situation). A decent offensive line. They would have to find threats. They would have to find some offensive weapons. But I think there would be a lot more people excited to be there.

“I think the free agency market this year will be oversaturated because of the salary cap, but that’s what I would do.”

The suggestion is interesting, as Sherman is scheduled to become a free agent and made it clear that he does not expect to return to San Francisco due to the situation of the team’s salary cap.

Sherman’s former defensive coordinator with the 49ers, Robert Saleh, is now the coach of the Jets, so this naturally led to some speculation that the All-Pro cornerback may be heading to New York. He may not be the 49ers’ only impending free agent looking at the Jets.

“They will be able to form a team, and if [Watson is] at the helm, they immediately become a competitor not only in that division, but in AFC in general, “added Sherman.
