447 more cases of COVID-19, 1 death, 31K vaccinations reported Saturday in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – The number of COVID-19 cases in Utah increased by 447 on Saturday, with one death and an additional 31,000 vaccinations reported, according to the Utah Department of Health.

The average number of positive cases per day for seven days is now 406, according to the health department. The rate of positive test per day for that period of time reported with the “people over people” method is now 6.8%. The positive test rate per day, averaged over seven days, calculated using the “test on test” method is now 3.4%.

There are now 132 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Utah, including 44 in intensive care, state data show. About 65.4% of all beds in intensive care units in Utah are occupied on Saturday, including about 69.3% of the ICU beds in the state’s 16 referral hospitals, according to the health department. About 52.8% of hospital beds outside the ICU in Utah are occupied.

A total of 1,481,363 doses of the vaccine were administered in the state, compared to 1,450,263 on Friday.

The only death reported on Saturday was that of a Utah county man aged 65-84 years. He died in the hospital.

Saturday’s total gives Utah 386,997 confirmed cases, with 15,593 hospitalizations and 2,132 deaths from the disease.
