42 people, including students kidnapped last week from Kagara, Nigeria, released

The freed group included 27 students, teachers and family members, the state government said in a note at the time of the kidnapping.

The armed men, wearing military uniforms according to witnesses, stormed the Kagara Government High School of Science on February 17. A student who died during the attack was called Benjamin Habila.

The executive governor of the state of Niger, Abubakar Sani Bello, tweeted that the freedmen were received by the state government.

This happened when hundreds of girls were kidnapped in the early hours of Friday, when armed men broke into a state school in the state of Zamfara, in northwest Nigeria.

The girls were removed from their hostels by armed men who invaded the Government Women’s High School in the city of Jangebe, a senior government official with knowledge of the incident told CNN.

In December, at least 300 students were kidnapped by bandits in Katsina, the home state of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari. The students have already been released.
These incidents raised questions about the safety of schools in northern parts of Nigeria.
