The Florida State Seminoles landed wide blue-chip receiver Destyn Hill on National Signature Day. The 6-foot, 200-pound wide receiver from New Orleans, Louisiana, made it official this morning by announcing his decision during a ceremony in New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr and immediately signing with FSU.
“Without further ado, for the next three or four years I will be studying at Florida State University,” Hill said during the ceremony, in which he also thanked his family, friends, teammates, coaches and others.
Hill chose the state of Florida from more than a dozen offerings, including Alabama, LSU, UF, Oklahoma and others.
Hill is the 19th ranked recipient in the country and the 113th best candidate overall, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Its main recruiters for the FSU were assistant coaches David Johnson and offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham.
Former Scouting Director at 247Sports, Barton Simmons, weighed with his Hill assessment:
Slim but defined wide receiver with sufficient length and size to be an effective long-term external threat. He has the ability to beat press coverage with quick feet and effectively stack his defensive back. Shows some versatility and feeling of running on route. Extremely productive in high school. Effective downfield and victory in contested situations. Good athletics, not great. It is not a natural hand picker. He is not active enough with his hands on his release. It does not yet have a dominant skill set, but it is very likely that it is a productive Power Five starter who has NFL Draft potential in the middle at the end of the round.
Hill is considered the icing on the cake for Mike Norvell’s 2021 recruiting class. The full list of FSU commitments and signatories can be found On here.
