4-star defender Dylan Brooks commits to Auburn

Dylan Brooks, a 4-star defensive side recruit launched on Friday from his National Letter of Intent with Tennessee, has already found a new home.

He will be an Auburn Tiger.

Brooks committed to training Bryan Harsin’s Saturday afternoon program.

“This is the best place for me,” Brooks told Auburn Undercover. “I just want to stay home – 334.”

Brooks, the featured in Roanoke (Alabama) Handley, committed to Vols last spring and signed with that program on December 16but made the decision in January to go elsewhere after the Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt, two assistants and several employees were fired. Brooks later presented a Request for Release of National Letter of Intent, and cited andmitigating circumstances (ie Pruitt’s resignation) as the reason.

Tennessee on Friday launched Brooks of your NLI without restrictions, making you free to attend any school you want. As soon as the launch became official, he was free to communicate with other programs and many got in touch, including UCF, where the former Auburn Coach Gus Malzahn is now in charge. But for Brooks, a legacy from Auburn (his cousin is a former Tigers receiver Jeris McIntyre), Auburn was where he wanted to be.

When he spoke to Harsin, coach of external linebackers Bert Watts and defensive line coach Nick Eason on Friday, that sealed the deal for Auburn.

“It was good,” said Brooks. “They are really genuine guys. Coach Harsin – he’s straightforward. He is not going to beat around the bush with you. He will tell you the truth. I also talked to Coach Watts and he’s a nice guy too. And Coach Eason. “

Brooks is number 76 in the national general industry recruitment generated by 247Sports Composite. He will be the best ranked player in Auburn’s 2021 recruiting class.

Brooks, 1.8 m tall and 250 pounds, can be a stronger or stronger tip in college. This will be determined after he arrives on campus this summer.

“They said it depends on how my body grows,” said Brooks. “But I really want to play outside. I think I’m better at running. “

For Brooks – and his family – a stressful period is over.

“They just want what’s best for me,” said Brooks. “They are happy for me.”

247 Sports Evaluation: Tall, with a great structure and long arms. It has room to fill up considerably once in a college strength program. Fast and explosive off the ball. Shows the ability to transition from speed to power and subdue line attackers at the point of attack. Flexible at the edge, plunging as it folds around the arc. Plays quickly and tracks chasing reproductions with impressive speed. He gets rid of the blocks and tries to embrace contact. It also shows his athletic ability falling into space as a linebacker and contributing to the attack as a wide receiver. You will need to continue working on your tackle and submission. He plays with relatively low competition and should see an increase in production as a senior with continuous improvement. Projects as a starter of several years at the Power Five level with the advantage of being an initial choice of the NFL Draft.
