4 players on the team’s free agency wish list

In his preview of the free NFL agency for The Gazette (subscription required for the link), Woody Paige has listed four players who will be on the Denver Broncos “wish list” during this off-season.

Paige indicated that Broncos general manager George Paton will show interest in the linebacker Eric Wilson and cornerbacks Troy Hill, William Jackson III and Jason Verrett.

Wilson (6-1, 230 pounds) is a 26-year-old linebacker who was hired by Minnesota Vikings (Paton’s former team) as a free college agent outside of Cincinnati after the 2017 NFL draft. He totaled 118 tackles, eight pass breaks, three sacks and three interceptions in 2020.

Hill (5-11, 183 pounds) is a 29-year-old cornerback who has totaled seven interceptions in six seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.

Jackson (6-0, 196 pounds) is a 27-year-old defender who was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft. He broke 41 passes in 59 career games.

Verrett (5-10, 188 pounds) is a 29-year-old cornerback who joined the league as a first-round pick with San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers in 2014. He broke seven passes and got two interceptions with San Francisco 49ers last season.

NFL teams can start negotiating with free agents on March 15, but the signings – and negotiations – will not become official until March 17.
