DENVER (KKTV) – Another case of the COVID-19 variant was detected in Colorado.
Colorado was the first US state to discover a patient with the variant on December 29. The first patient was isolated in Elbert County after the detection of variant B.1.1.7 of COVID-19. The variant has sparked concern worldwide because of the signs that it can spread more easily. Although there is no indication that it causes more serious illness, several countries in Europe have restricted UK travel as a result. COVID-19 vaccines are also believed to act against the variant.
On Thursday, the Colorado State Joint Information Center announced that a new case of the variant was discovered in Aurora. Public health officials discovered the third confirmed case on Thursday and a possible case among members of the Veterans Community Living Center team in Fitzsimons, operated by the Colorado Department of Human Services.
The state says that the inhabitants of coloring can protect themselves from variant B.1.1.7 in the same way that they can protect themselves from the prominent SARS-CoV-2 strain following public health protocols – hand washing, wearing a mask, physical distance and meetings.
The second confirmed case is in the same location where the first confirmed case was discovered. The state was originally investigating as a possible case until confirmation arrives on Thursday.
