30 Day Fund founders pledge $ 1 million to Barstool Fund for small businesses

Husband and wife Pete and Burson Snyder, who founded the nonprofit 30 Day Fund to help communities and small businesses, promised The Barstool Fund $ 1 million on Thursday if the fundraising effort reaches $ 14 million by midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Dave Portnoy, founder of the media company Barstool Sports, raised $ 13.3 million for 50 small businesses through The Barstool Fund on Thursday afternoon.

“BREAKING: Pete and Burson Snyder co-founders of the 30 Day Fund pledged to donate $ 1 million to #barstoolfund if we can reach 14 million at midnight. We are at 12.7 million now, “Portnoy tweeted on Thursday, adding that the Synders’ contribution would raise total fund donations to $ 15 million.

Portnoy launched the fundraising effort, using 30 Day Fund open source technology, for small businesses impacted by COVID-19 in early December and contributed $ 500,000 of his own money to the fund.

The personality of the sports media, which has been criticized for controversial comments made on its podcast, has directly sought out millionaires entrepreneurs and athletes on social networks to ask them to donate to the fund.

Portnoy also posted videos of his interactions with business owners who are teary-eyed when he informs them that their requests to receive donations through the Barstool Fund have been accepted.
