According to several reports, the Pittsburgh Steelers plan to replace former offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner promoting inside. As expected, Steelers is planning to promote defender Matt Canada instead of interviewing outside candidates. Canada joined the coaching staff in 2020, after being the head coach in Maryland.
Here are three things we expect from Canada’s attack
Diverse formations

One of the things Canada is known for, whether as offensive coordinator or head coach, is its tendency to use multiple formations, even for the same game. Canda loves to use changes and movements to create incompatibilities and force the defense to make adjustments.

Let’s not be fooled. If Ben Roethlisberger returns in 2021, the Steelers will not make the pro-style spread that Canada ran in Maryland. Not everything in the scheme matches Roethlisberger’s style and Canada had a year on this team to understand that. He will not try to force Roethlisberger to do things he is not comfortable with at this point in his career.
More Anthony McFarland Jr.

If the Steelers do not sign again with James Conner, do not be shocked if Canada does not place McFarland as a starter due to their relationship and McFarland’s experience in this attack. McFarland is the only home run threat to the team between running backs and, assuming the offensive line gets a major makeover this season, it may flourish.
