3 results of BYU’s victory over Pepperdine by 65-54

BYU avoided Pepperdine’s return attempt with an 8-0 run to close the game.

Here are three lessons from BYU’s victory:

  • The Cougars led by 16 in the second half, but Pepperdine came out in a 12-0 streak and narrowed the gap to three points with just under five minutes to go. BYU was able to tighten things up after the return of the Waves, going in an 8-0 to close the game. Alex Barcello, Matt Haarms and Kolby Lee scored for the Cougars.
  • BYU’s defense performed well during most of the game on Saturday. The Cougars did not get any points on the waves during the last 4:50 of the game. BYU limited Pepperdine to 26 points, to 21.9% in the first half and 28.8% overall.
  • BYU scorer Alex Barcello had an exceptionally quiet night. He lost part of his tooth during the game. He didn’t make a basket, going 0 to 7 on the field, but he made four important free throws at the end of the game.
