Authorities have yet to issue a formal statement as to why they were called to the house, who may have made the call or what was reported to the police, but according to Wichita Eagle, Wichita’s chief of police, Gordon Ramsay , told local media that the owners asked the authorities to check the empty house after seeing the several open windows, leading them to think that someone might be inside and that the police were given a key to the house so that they could access it. .
“After entering the residence, three police officers were injured in a possible explosion from an unknown device,” officials said in a statement on social media.
The Wichita Police Department said the three officers were immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment, while the WPD SWAT team and the bomb squad conducted the investigations.
