Police say a child and a teenager were among the three people killed in a shootout on Saturday in a home in St. Paul where police officers were an hour before the shooting.

According to the police, officers responded at around 3 pm to assist paramedics on an emergency call at Block 700 on Jessie Street. When the police arrived at the scene, the people who had called 911 met with the police and frantically said there were people injured inside the house.

Inside, the police found three victims shot: a woman in her 30s, a girl in her early teens and a boy between 8 and 12 years old.

The police released paramedics who declared the death of the woman and the teenager and rushed the boy to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The police said the officers were at home about an hour before the shooting to check on social security. According to police spokesman Sergeant. Mike Ernster, a relative called the police department to check on a woman at the house.

“He was called here by a concerned family member from outside the state who wanted us to check on the alleged victim’s well-being in this house,” said the sergeant. Ernster. “Our officer came here, he spoke to her at the door and explained why he was there.”

“She looked at him and said, ‘I’m fine, tell them I’m fine,'” explained the sergeant. Ernster.

Sgt. Ernster says the officer offered to let the woman use her phone to call a relative in Tennesee, but said the woman said no.

Saturday’s call was not the first time the police came to the house, Ernster said. He told reporters that the policeman had been home before Saturday for other calls to check on social security.

At the moment, the circumstances that led to the shooting are unclear, as well as who fired the shots that killed the three victims.

Investigators are now talking to people and trying to determine what happened.
