As an organization, the Golden State Warriors are in a difficult position in terms of the list, both financially and financially. Without Klay Thompson, this team looks completely different and they have been struggling early in the NBA season to discover their identity and who can stand alongside Stephen Curry.
With not much off-season to get used to a new system with new players, these types of learning curves are expected for Golden State and, although guys like Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Kent Bazemore are top players, he will take the time to get used to playing with a whole new team on a completely different system.
Think of it as putting someone behind the wheel of a car when you’ve never driven it before and waiting for it to pass your driver’s test. Of course, these guys are professional basketball players and should be able to play at a high level, no matter what, but each team does things differently, especially in defense and transition.
Over time, this Warriors team will definitely be a solid overall team and must fight for a playoff spot at the Western Conference, but they need to figure things out quickly or else they can be left behind in a crowded conference.
Draymond Green is expected to return soon and with newcomer James Wiseman getting more minutes now that Marquese Chriss is out indefinitely with a broken leg, the Warriors will definitely try to involve the newcomer more.
As it stands now, the Golden State Warriors are $ 65.2 million above the salary cap and $ 41.7 million above the tax cut, meaning they have little or no space in the trade market, unless are receiving a contract less than or equal to the one they are giving above. While it seems impossible to do, there are some high-profile players that the Warriors could go out and acquire to give Stephen Curry and Draymond Green more veteran help.
