The Houston Rockets have been a team on the news for months and although they participated in the biggest off-season deal, sending Russell Westbrook to the Washington Wizards by John Wall, they found themselves part of one of the biggest deals in NBA history earlier this month – sending James Harden to Brooklyn Nets.
Houston finally granted James Harden his desire to trade with the Nets and sent him to Brooklyn in a multi-team deal in exchange for four first round choices (Nets 2022, 2024, 2026; Bucks 2022), four exchange choices first round of the Nets in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027, Caris LeVert, Dante Exum and Rodions Kurucs.
Then, the Rockets reversed the script for Caris LeVert and traded him and a future choice in the second round with the Indiana Pacers for former All-Star point guard Victor Oladipo. Houston now enters what they hope to be a quick rebuild, with a lot of talent from ex-stars.
John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and now Victor Oladipo are all in Houston and although they were All-Stars early in their careers, they are no longer the same players after significant injuries. Christian Wood’s emergence was huge for Houston and if they could go out and make another big move near the NBA negotiation deadline, they could prepare for much success in the post-Harden era.
