3 dead, including sniper, after Wisconsin home invasion

Three people died, including a man who exchanged shots with deputies after a home invasion in eastern Wisconsin, officials said.

Someone at a residence in the town of Kewaskum called 911 on Wednesday afternoon after a man forced his way into the Washington County house and demanded keys to a vehicle, officials said. The man then killed a resident of the house before the police arrived.

A neighbor who heard the shots called 911 to report that a man with a gun was walking towards his home, officials said. The sheriff’s delegates arrived and exchanged shots with the man, who then fled.

The police established a perimeter and searched for the man using a drone, and finally found him in the area. He was shot dead and a gun was found nearby.

During a search of nearby properties, SWAT officers found another person who died from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s officers. The names of the dead were not immediately released.

Kewaskum is located about 45 miles (72 kilometers) north of Milwaukee.
